Monroe Civic Center: Events, Seating, Box Office & Visitor Guide

Upcoming Events at the Civic Center

The Civic Center's calendar is a mix of concerts, trade shows, rodeos, and community events. It's the home arena for the Monroe Moccasins hockey team and the longtime host of the prestigious Miss Louisiana Pageant.

The events I saw being planned during the LMA convention highlighted a focus on community and growth, which seems to be a running theme for the venue.

Seating Chart, Capacity & the Jack Howard Theatre

The complex is made up of several distinct venues, each with its own size and purpose. It’s not just one big room.

The Arena is the main event space. It's a multi-purpose venue with 7,600 seats and over 46,000 square feet of total exhibition space. For a concert, the capacity is around 5,600 people. For a banquet with round tables, it can seat 1,250. The flexibility allows it to host everything from motor sports to large-scale conventions.

The WL Jack Howard Theatre is the crown jewel for performing arts. It seats over 2,200 people across three levels: 1,384 in the orchestra, 448 in the first balcony, and 412 in the second balcony. I heard from staff that it's known for its acoustics, making it a top spot for symphonies, gospel concerts, and theatrical productions like The Nutcracker. The theater has also received recent upgrades to its carpet, paint, and lighting.

For conferences and meetings, the complex includes two other large spaces. The Abe E. Pierce III Convention Center offers 22,000 square feet that can be divided into as many as 15 breakout rooms. It's named in honor of Monroe's first African American mayor. The B.D. Robinson Conference Hall is a 14,000-square-foot banquet hall that can host up to 1,000 guests and has a full-service kitchen for caterers.

Box Office, Tickets & Bag Policy

Getting your logistics right is key to a smooth visit. The entire Monroe Civic Center complex is a cashless facility, so make sure you have a card for any purchases.

The box office is open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. On days when there is a Monroe Moccasins hockey game, it's also open on Saturdays from 10 AM to 5 PM. You can reach them by phone at (318) 329-2226 for questions. Most tickets for major events are sold through Ticketmaster.

The venue enforces a strict Clear Bag Policy for concerts and other large events.

• Allowed: Clear plastic bags no larger than 12"x6"x12", one-gallon clear freezer bags, and small clutch bags no larger than 4.5"x6.5".
• Prohibited: Backpacks, large purses, camera bags, fanny packs, and any bag larger than the approved dimensions. Medical bags and diaper bags (with a baby present) are exceptions but are subject to inspection. It's best to leave any non-essential bags in your car.

Parking, Hotels & Visitor Tips

On-site parking is available within the 31-acre complex, including accessible spots. The official website doesn't list a standard parking fee for attendees, so it's a good idea to check the specific event page on Ticketmaster or the Civic Center's site to see if a fee applies for your event.

During my visit, I saw a lot of excitement around Monroe's future, with presentations on new projects like The Hotel Monroe and a passenger rail terminal. It's clear the city is investing heavily in its infrastructure, making it an even better destination for visitors attending events here.
